I am enjoying reading Denise Shimabukuro's Drawing Board Journals very much. Like Will Eisner's Graphic Storytelling, or Scott McClouds' Understanding Comics, this book is not about animation or cinematic storyboarding per se, but the principles she delineates are certainly ones every animator and storyboard artist should master. She lays out the basic principles of composition, design, and character in easy to get lessons, and she presents it all in a delightful drawing style that is the equal of any Walt Disney or Pixar artist. When I showed my review copy to my students, many immediately ordered one of their own. Doubtless, you will also.
